In what ways do your life philosophy and treatment philosophy overlap?
My understanding of feminism impacted how I approached my training and how I approach treatment in therapy. Because of this feminist lens, I view clients in the larger context of society, which takes into account how identities interact with our society at large. Putting things into context often allows for a deeper understanding, and one that is less blaming of the individual. It's like the Michael Scott quote, "If I'm this way, it's because society made me this way." While it's no excuse, it is a helpful way to begin to understand what is going on for us.
What does a first session with you look like?
During our first session, I will be asking some questions to get to know you better and to more deeply understand what is bringing you to therapy. This may span the first two or so sessions, and we also discuss what you hope to get from therapy as well. During this process, and also at any other point, you are welcome to ask me questions. The goals of the first few sessions are to get to know each other better, understand where you are now, where you want to be, and how we can start to move in that direction!
Are there any recurring themes or issues you’ve noticed as you treat people in your area of specialization, and how has this insight guided your approach?
The main themes I see in my work with relationships and sexuality is communication. Communication underlies how we connect to each other, how we understand each other, and the empathy we have for each other. If the communication is not effective then everything else is affected. From the simplest thing to the most complex, if communication isn't there, it's not going to go well.

Work History
I have worked in several settings including community mental health and university counseling centers. Through my experience I learned that being in private practice would allow me the most opportunities to work with the clients I'm passionate about- those who are seeking a deeper connection with their romantic partner(s). So, I set up my private practice shortly after graduation and have been loving it ever since!
