What is your style/approach to therapy?
I do not believe in a one size fits all approach as everyone is different. We all have individual strengths and limitations, what works well for one person may not work for the next. I utilize an integration of modalities to best fit individual needs and to aid in behavior modification. I implement evidence-based therapy techniques including, but not limited to, mindfulness-based interventions, IBCT, CBT, ACT, and DBT to address symptoms of PTSD, depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, relational problems, and/or other life stressors.
How do you determine therapy goals with clients? What does that process look like?
Through a collaborative process, therapy goals are developed and defined. Treatment planning is started during the intake and is completed after 2-3 sessions to ensure accuracy.
What does a first session with you look like?
I will describe myself as fun, warm, welcoming and easy to talk to. The first session will be about developing rapport to build a strong therapeutic relationship and to ensure comfortability. We will discuss your mental health history and back ground while I learn about what brings you in for counseling. Treatment begins during the first session and homework is assigned to develop a foundation.
