In what ways have your personal experiences influenced your work with your clients?

I went through a painful divorce about 12 years ago. That experience has made me very compassionate for people going through similar experiences and loss. It also made me determined to figure out what I could have done different. So I have studied many theories and models to help people restore their relationships and find peace again. Now that I am remarried I get the benefit of healthy relationship. Both my first and second marriages along with my training have made me a better therapist.

How has your particular field of specialization evolved in recent years and how has that impacted your work?

I first stated using CBT techniques several years ago. The more I work with a variety of clients I realize that our thinking effects how we feel about situations and how we behave. Many times helping people to re-frame a situation and helping them to see it from a different prospective makes all the difference.

What is your style/approach to therapy?

I have a very laid back person centered approach. I am committed to meeting people where they are but helping them to figure out a road map to where they want to go. I think developing rapport and having a strong therapeutic relationship is key to counseling process
