In what ways have your personal experiences influenced your work with your clients?
My personal experiences have deeply influenced the way I work with clients. A philosophy that has stayed with me is sonder—the understanding that every person is living a life as rich and complex as our own. It reminds me to approach each client with curiosity, compassion, and respect for their unique journey. Alongside my work as a therapist, I am a working musician and songwriter, and I remain closely connected to the creative community. I also have lived experience within the neurodivergent, neuroexpansive, women's health, and creative spaces. This has given me a personal understanding of experiences such as PMDD, hormonal health challenges, navigating a world that is not always designed for neurodivergent people, and the unique strengths and challenges of living a creative life. These experiences have shaped my belief in working collaboratively with clients, meeting them where they are, and holding hope when they find it difficult to see it themselves. Alongside my professional training, the communities I have been part of have taught me the value of deep listening and seeing the whole person beyond a diagnosis or presenting concern. I bring an empathetic, multicultural lens, an awareness of intersectionality, and a strong ethical approach to my practice. My aim is to create a collaborative, person-centered space where clients feel understood, respected, and supported to build sustainable wellbeing in a way that honors their unique identity and lived experience.
