What does a first session with you look like?
During our first session, I will gather some background information to help me get to know more about you. We will also discuss your goals, to ensure that we are working toward the same thing. I may give you "assignments" at the end of a session which may be written, a task to do, a conversation to have, something to think about, or some other form. During the next session, I will ask for feedback on your "homework" and how things have gone since our last session.
What is your style/approach to therapy?
I consider myself a Cognitive Behavioral Therapist. This approach allows for expression of thoughts and feelings and utilization of validation, support, reframing, and reality-based approaches and interventions. An element of this can include educational interventions and approaches. I utilize handouts/educational tools, "homework assignments", and humor.
