What does a first session with you look like?
The focus of the initial therapy session is why the client is seeking therapy at this time. It is important to answer any questions and discuss any expectations the client may have during the initial interaction. In my experience, this helps to begin building a mutual trust and respectful therapeutic relationship.
What is your style/approach to therapy?
My style of therapy focuses on meeting the client where they are and tailoring the therapeutic approach to meet their needs with compassion and understanding. I tend to use mindfulness techniques in combination with CBT while taking a holistic therapy approach.
If there was one thing you wish people knew about the therapy experience who might be hesitant to try it, what would that be?
Taking the first step to seek therapy can be very overwhelming and intimidating but it is also very brave. The therapeutic relationship is based on mutual respect and dignity. The therapeutic process is a journey that you will be able to control, with support and professional guidance. While therapy can be challenging the outcomes can be life changing.
