Work HistoryI have always been dissatisfied with how our healthcare system separated behavioral health and physical healthcare. I really wanted to make a difference in the lives of others and always believed that “our heads are attached to our bodies.” If you’re reading this, you know that behavioral health issues always involve you as a whole person. My beliefs about whole person healthcare really shaped my expertise and specialization for anxiety disorders, especially because I had so much experience with anxiety problems myself many years ago. I earned my doctorate in a program that integrates physical and behavioral health, as this was vital for understanding and treating anxiety and the impact it has on thinking, behavior, and physical symptoms. As a result, I’ve been a psychotherapist in various roles throughout my career using evidence-based practice including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Exposure Response Prevention for anxiety disorders. Much has changed in the prevention and treatment of anxiety disorders since I was a young adult. All my education, training, and work experience, together with my own experience with anxiety, gives me a unique understanding and opportunity to help those that have suffered for so long.
