What would be important for someone to know about working with you?
My first and foremost desire is to show you the respect and dignity you deserve as a human being. My approach is friendly and engaging from the very start to make you feel comfortable and that you are where you meant to be.
What impact did the scope and/or focus of your education have on your current work as a therapist?
I have a dual graduate degree . One is in social work (MSW) and the other one is in Theology (M.Div.) Both deal with the human condition and complement each other in addressing the holistic approach to living our lives effectively as it is meant to be. Both help me uncover the innate strength we have and the ability to to view and resolve life difficulties. Which also challenge me to remind myself of the respect and the dignity of my clients who allowed me into their sacred and personal space to guide them to remove internal barriers in order to reach their goals.
How do you determine therapy goals with clients? What does that process look like?
First I make an effort to be totally present to listen to them. To understand where they are coming from.. A brief back ground of the presenting problem would be important. to understand the reason they sought therapy and the goal they want to achieve. After hearing their story ,we discuss therapy models that could be helpful. Over all with a total collaboration and input from them will determine the better option therapy model to use to achieve the favorable goal.

Work HistoryMy name is Tesfamariam (Tesfa) Kefle. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the State of Illinois. I have worked in the field of social work, mental health and child welfare field for over 20 years. I have a lengthy experience working with families and individuals in programs of community case work and counseling.. Although licensed for substantial years, I started my private practice over three years ago. In my practice, although I can adjust to more appropriate therapy at the time, I have utilized cognitive behavioral therapy , client centered Therapy and solution focus therapy. For me, it is important in therapy to create a space and comfort for clients to explore difficult emotions, process negative thought patterns, identify and build on strengths to resolve issues in their lives. I see myself as genuine, warm and with a passion to help clients to tap on and rekindle their inner strength to overcome current life experiences.
