What do you think is the biggest barrier today for people seeking care?
Some thinking it means their crazy or inadequate. My view is similar to going for a physical or dental visit, its a mental check up. Why not take care of all of yourself, especially your mental with the ups and down of daily life? Also financial and what is your priority, I know people feel its too expensive however spend more more on materials which not finding their mental health is as important or are in denial for their need for mental check-ups.
In what ways does your personality influence your approach to therapy?
I have a calm, fun loving personality that aids in openness, relatability and curiosity, The client is the priority and I come along for the journey as a guide and sounding board.
Were there lessons in your professional or academic career that left an impression on you, and how has that informed your work today?
During my internship, I learned about the ACE study which during the 1980s solidified the link between adverse childhood experiences and health, physical and emotional. It gave dignity to adults struggling in adulthood due to residue from their childhood.
