Work HistoryMy official training as a psychotherapist began in 2019. However, some of my earliest jobs in high school and college involved peer counseling. More recently, I worked with seniors with memory loss and their spouses at a day care program in West LA called OPICA. Looking back, this pre-pandemic training site was very special. Holding our client's hands, setting up art supplies and trivia games for them, dancing with them, helping them walk around Stoner Park, singing alongside them--these were all parts of the job. And alas, COVID-19 changed all that. So I feel grateful for that time before the lockdowns. OPICA gave me experience facilitating groups and in working one-on-one. This was helpful for my work at a substance use recovery center, where I ran 2 weekly drama therapy groups. This was a fun way to integrate my former interests in theater and improv while helping clients see their issues in new ways.
