What is your style/approach to therapy?

My therapeutic orientation integrates Internal Family Systems (IFS) and depth psychology, emphasizing a holistic approach to understanding and healing. Grounded in the principles of IFS, I explore the internal dynamics of the mind, acknowledging the presence of various subpersonalities or "parts." This model allows me to delve into the complexity of human consciousness, addressing underlying emotions and conflicts. Simultaneously, my integration of depth psychology enriches the therapeutic process by exploring the unconscious aspects of the psyche, drawing from traditions like Jungian psychology. This depth-oriented approach seeks to uncover hidden patterns, archetypes, and symbolic meanings, fostering a deeper understanding of the self. In my practice, the combination of IFS and depth psychology enables a comprehensive exploration of the client's inner world, encouraging self-discovery, healing, and integration of various aspects of the psyche for a more profound and transformative therapeutic experience.

If you could pick one movie or book that influenced your approach to therapy, what would it be and why?

The Art of Receiving and Giving by Betty Martin. It is a beautiful exploration on understanding our needs within relationships and learning how to ask for our needs. It has been a mainstay of my required reading for many clients that I have.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

My clients leave session with a sense of self awareness, curiosity, understanding, and feeling safe and supported in their deep process around the issues they are wishing to explore. I hold a strong, well contained space for the work that I offer, due to the sensitive nature of the topics we will be working on. My approach is one of strength based focus, and I give you all the space to do your reflective work while I add in my own reflections. I do not give advice, but I support your own inner healer wisdom and find meaning and grounding from there.

Work History

My path as a therapist, and ultimately a certified sex therapist, has been an evolutionary journey, and one that I feel quite passionate about. As a sex therapist, I help individuals or couples with issues related to intimacy, sexuality, and relationships. I provide a safe space to discuss concerns, offer guidance on communication, address sexual challenges, and support the development of healthy and satisfying intimate connections. I have also a strong background and training within newer forms of therapeutic treatments, to include ketamine-assisted psychotherapy, and I have been trained for MDMA-assisted psychotherapy for when it becomes a legal option for treatment soon. I look at all aspects of the human condition, how we communicate, and what structures and goals are needed to help my clients find their path in their personal lives and their relationships.
