What would be important for someone to know about working with you?

How would I describe myself as a therapist? Our typical therapist buzzwords are compassionate, a good listener, warm and non-judgmental. Sure, I am all of those things. But I first describe myself as GRATEFUL. I understand how difficult it is to walk into a room with a complete stranger and hope that they will be easy to talk to and willing to hear about the most intimate parts of your life. For that, I am grateful. From the first interaction with a person to the very last, I want people to know that I thank them for sharing the gift of their presence with me. It isn’t something I deserve, but I am thankful when people find me worthy of that trust. My training as an Emotionally Focused Therapist is valuable because it cements my true feelings about all of us in our humanity: we need connection. We need to be loved. We need to be understood. We desire to be seen as valuable. We want someone to believe that we are special to them. Helping clients get to a willingness to be open to the vulnerability of love is what I thoroughly enjoy.
