Work HistoryI have spent more than twenty years doing clinical work across four countries and very different settings. Early in my career I worked in community mental health in Brazil, where I learned to sit with people in acute psychological crisis and to work with the kinds of suffering that do not fit neatly into diagnostic categories. That experience shaped how I think about distress and what it actually takes to help someone. Over time I worked in hospital and academic settings in the United States, Ecuador, and Portugal, which gave me a broad view of how people suffer across cultures and contexts, and deepened my understanding of grief, trauma, and the psychological impact of major life disruption. I have always been drawn to the patients who feel poorly understood, or who have tried treatment before without finding clarity or lasting change. I founded Real Talk Clinical Psychology in Houston, where I serve as Clinical and Training Director. In that role I oversee the clinical work of the practice and direct a postdoctoral fellowship in clinical psychology. My ongoing training is in psychoanalysis, and I present and publish on that work nationally and internationally.
