Get To Know Me
What was your path to becoming a therapist? What inspired you to choose this profession?
I've witnessed how trauma and the stigma surrounding mental health can trap individuals in cycles of unaddressed issues and harmful behaviors. I understand how unresolved pain can manifest in the way we interact with others, ultimately preventing us from healing and causing harm to both ourselves and those around us. I believe that we all have a deep desire for freedom, peace, and personal growth, but sometimes, fear and overwhelm can get in the way, holding us back from reaching those goals. The belief that people can change and therefore change their generations and communities, inspired me to become a therapist.
I obtained my Bachelor of Social Work degree in 2010 from the University of Texas at El Paso, my hometown, and pursed a career working with individuals and families. I later obtained my Master of Science Social Work degree from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley where I completed my clinical hours at a center supporting women and children affected by intimate partner violence. Working with trauma inspired me to become trained in EMDR.
In what ways does your personality influence your approach to therapy?
I look for the best in others and recognize that we are all affected by our environment and upbringing. I strive to make others feel seen and understood. I aim to foster trust and safety in every therapeutic relationship, focusing on people's unique experiences and potential for growth. Ultimately, my personality leads me to create a space where one can feel valued and empowered to make meaningful changes.
What would be important for someone to know about working with you?
I am bilingual in English and in Spanish. I want you to know that if you choose to work with me, I will be someone that truly listens and cares. I will gently challenge you and support and empower you to make changes that you want to make in your life. If you allow me, I will help you explore the root of the issues that made you start seeking therapy.
I know being a human can be incredibly hard and hope that you find the support you need.

Education
University of Texas at El Paso, Master of Social Work, 2023 — GPA: 4.0
Concentration: Direct practice with individuals/families/groups.
Work HistoryI work with adults and teens (14+), providing individual therapy to help clients navigate a range of mental health challenges. Through assessments and personalized treatment plans, I help individuals gain a deeper understanding of their unique needs.
Previously, I worked with women and children impacted by domestic violence as a Bilingual Clinical Intern at Genesis Women’s Shelter & Support. I provided therapy in both individual and group settings, helping survivors process their experiences in a safe and healing space.
Over nearly 10 years with Communities in Schools (CIS) in El Paso and Greater Tarrant County, I worked with at-risk children and adolescents. I managed a caseload of 88+ students annually, creating personalized support plans. Through social-emotional learning groups, one-on-one sessions, resources like food assistance and counseling, crisis intervention services, and community wide events, I helped students and families build resilience and cope with challenges.
Earlier in my career, I had the opportunity to work closely with individuals facing mental health challenges within the criminal justice system. I completed psychosocial assessments, developed safety plans, and advocated for clients to receive necessary mental health services, ensuring they had the support they needed during and after incarceration. This was one of the experiences in my life that ignited my passion for fighting against systemic injustices and deepened my commitment to advocating for those marginalized by legal and societal barriers.
