Education
University of Texas at El Paso, Master of Social Work, 2023 — GPA: 4.0 Concentration: Direct practice with individuals/families/groups.
Work HistoryAs a therapist at Infinite Hope Counseling, I work with adults and teens (14+), providing individual therapy to help clients navigate a range of mental health challenges. Through assessments and personalized treatment plans, I help individuals gain a deeper understanding of their unique needs. I collaborate closely with my supervisor to fine-tune interventions, always ensuring that the goals we set are realistic and achievable for each client. I take pride in creating a supportive environment where my clients feel safe and heard. Previously, as a Bilingual Clinical Intern at Genesis Women’s Shelter & Support, I worked with women and children impacted by domestic violence. I provided therapy in both individual and group settings, helping survivors process their experiences in a safe and healing space. One of the projects I was particularly passionate about was researching spiritual abuse, which led me to design and implement a specialized curriculum for women's therapy groups, empowering them with knowledge and support. Over nearly 10 years with Communities in Schools (CIS) in El Paso and Greater Tarrant County, I worked with at-risk children and adolescents, supporting their academic, emotional, and social development, while also connecting their families to vital resources to promote overall well-being. I managed a caseload of 88+ students annually, creating personalized support plans based on behavior, academic performance, and attendance. Through social-emotional learning groups, one-on-one sessions, and resources like food assistance and counseling, I helped students build resilience and cope with challenges. I also initiated an in-school food pantry and provided basic needs through our office’s clothing & supply closet and holiday programs. I collaborated with teachers, counselors, and parents in behavior intervention meetings and facilitated strategies for student success. I organized educational presentations and ensured families were actively involved in their children’s growth. In addition, I coordinated volunteers, organized community events, supervised interns, and conducted home visits, all while providing crisis intervention services. My focus was always on creating a supportive, safe environment for both students and their families. Earlier in my career, during my internship at the El Paso County Public Defender’s Office, I had the opportunity to work closely with individuals facing mental health challenges within the criminal justice system. I completed psychosocial assessments, developed safety plans, and advocated for clients to receive necessary mental health services, ensuring they had the support they needed both during and after their time in jail. This was one of the experiences in my life that ignited my passion for fighting against systemic injustices and deepened my commitment to advocating for those marginalized by legal and societal barriers.
