Education
Troy University, Master of Science in Counseling, Counseling and Psychology, 2011 — On my journey through life I feel compelled to note that all through the educational parts I was also being a wife and mother, working as a baker, homeschooling my last two children, having my own therapy, successful and not and this education is as important to me as my listed degrees.
University of Wisconsin, Platteville, Bachelor of Science, Physics, 1987
San Francisco Community College, Associate of Arts, Commercial Art, 1979
Work HistoryI graduated from therapist school in 2011 and since then I have worked in community mental health, minimum and maximum security prisons, in an agency that included training in animal assisted therapy, in schools and in private practice. My work before then was varied: I was an electronics assembler, a waitress, a baker, a freelance artist, a bachelor-level physicist working in superconducting microelectronics and a metrologist at the space center. Going to counselor school gave me the tools I needed to understand my own life journey and the combination informs my style of therapy by proving every day the things I believe. A couple of those things are: people are more important than things, everybody is doing their best even when at their worst and bad things feel big due to our evolutionary negative bias so we need to consciously look for the good. My motto is "More Joy" and I hope I can help you to find more joy in your life.
