Under Clinical Supervision

Alexis Taylor, Associate Clinical Social Worker, 106995 is practicing under the supervision of Lauren Permenter (California, LCSW, 83870) at Bridges Therapy Group.

Please, note: A clinician listed as being “clinically supervised” is completing clinical hours toward their licensure. They have one or more fully licensed clinical supervisors that often have special training to become supervisors. They consult with their supervisor(s) on all of their cases, which means that, when working with them, you are getting the time and expertise of multiple therapists in your treatment.

What does a first session with you look like?

In our first session you can expect us to go through your history in as much detail as you feel comfortable going. I will utilize this session as a way to get to know you, your personality, what has brought you to therapy, and what your goals are for therapy. This is also a time for you to ask me any questions you may have and to determine if you want to work with me moving forward. I try to make this first session as comfortable as possible, often utilizing humor and small talk in the beginning to set the tone for the rest of the session. My main goal is to help you feel calm, safe, and heard.

What was your path to becoming a therapist? What inspired you to choose this profession?

Helping others has always been an important value in my life and something I have found to be personally fulfilling. It may sound cliché, but I have always felt called to this line of work and knew that I could be a helping hand to many. I have always found so much joy when in the service of other people and social work was a way for me to not only help others, but also build meaningful connections. It’s truly such a privilege to get to share a space with clients as they share their lives with me. Building connections and being a guiding hand in clients’ lives is such a humbling and fulfilling experience.

Education

University of Denver, Master of Social Work, Social work with an emphasis in mental health, 2021

Work History

My work experience in the mental health field began in my graduate program when I interned for Mile High Psychiatry in Denver, CO. I interned here from Feb 2021-Sept 2021. This was the place I began practicing my skills in CBT and Mindfulness. I also co-created and co-facilitated a DBT group and this gave me my foundation I have now in incorporating DBT in my sessions today. Once I graduated with my masters I moved on to my current place of work, Bridges Therapy Group. I have been working here since May 2022. This is the place where I have narrowed down on what I specialize in and the modalities I love using. Currently I mainly see clients aged 16-35 struggling with anxiety, depression, and/or life transitions. I especially love working with those in college or about to start college.
