Get To Know Me
What would be important for someone to know about working with you?
I'm Lynn, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist based in California, and I specialize in something I know from the inside: the exhausting, demoralizing cycle of chronic dieting, body image pain, and the war with food that so many people fight — quietly, privately, and often for decades.
I was in that cycle myself for most of my life. What finally changed wasn't a better diet or more willpower. It was understanding what the cycle was actually about — the early experiences, the unprocessed pain, the nervous system that had learned to use food as its most reliable tool for coping. When I healed that, my relationship with food healed too. Not perfectly, and not overnight. But genuinely.
That journey is what led me to become a therapist, and it shapes everything I do in the room.
My approach brings together two powerful frameworks: EMDR — a trauma therapy that works at the level of the brain and body to process the experiences that drove the cycle in the first place — and Intuitive Eating, which supports a return to the body's own wisdom around hunger, fullness, and satisfaction. Together, they address both the root and the relationship. The goal isn't a new set of rules. It's a normal, peaceful, uncomplicated relationship with food — the kind that was always possible, once the pain beneath it was healed.
I also work with trauma survivors, attachment wounds, and codependency — populations whose struggles with food and body image are often deeply connected to early relational experiences.
My style is warm, direct, and deeply personal. I don't work from behind a wall of clinical distance — I work as someone who has been where you are, and who knows another way is possible.
I am EMDR Certified and EMDRIA Approved, a Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor, trained in Brainspotting, and Level 2 trained in Internal Family Systems (IFS). Free consultations available — in person and online.
