What is your style/approach to therapy?
I approach therapy from a relational cultural frame, which means I view human connection as an outcome and a vehicle for healing, while paying attention to how our health and wellbeing is affected by the systems we live in.
What does a first session with you look like?
Before we schedule an intake session, we will meet for a free consult call. These calls are typically 20-30 minutes, and allow you space to ask questions and figure out if working with me feels like a good fit. You can use the scheduling tool here on Choosing Therapy to book your free consult. If you do not see a time slot that works for you, please email me and we will find a time that works for both of us!
Please book at least 2 business days in advance, and I will return your email within 2 business days to confirm your appointment.
What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?
In therapy, I support clients in noticing and exploring how past experiences may have influenced present day patterns, and work together towards shifting these patterns in the present. I am also trained in EMDR, which is a trauma focused approach that can support people in processing difficult memories that may be making them feel "stuck."

Work HistoryHello, my name's Alissa, and I'm a therapist based in Philadelphia providing telehealth therapy to adults who live in Pennsylvania. I've worked extensively with adults who have experienced stressful, confusing, or traumatic events. These events might have occurred in childhood, adolescence, or more recently. Together we discuss strategies to manage present day symptoms while exploring how the past affects the present. While I've enjoyed working in hospitals, outpatient clinics, and primary care offices, I've found that working directly with my clients in private practice allows us to focus on client created goals and foster an environment that is confidential, safe, and transparent.
