Professional Background
Licensure
Under Supervision: Amanda Collins, Provisional Licensed Professional Counselor, 11231 is practicing under the supervision of Hope Gersovitz (Louisiana, LPC-S, 2811) at Theratique.
Please, note: A clinician listed as being “clinically supervised” is completing clinical hours toward their licensure. They have one or more fully licensed clinical supervisors that often have special training. They consult with their supervisor(s) on all of their cases.
Education
Xavier University of Louisiana, Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, 2026 — My graduate training focused on maternal mental health and relational dynamics. I've completed research on strengthening maternal mental health, applying family therapy approaches to relational conflict, and integrating couples therapy frameworks into clinical work. I'm committed to staying current in my field and have presented at professional conferences on perinatal mental health and affirming care for transgender and nonbinary individuals navigating pregnancy and parenthood. This ongoing education and research background means you're working with someone who is deeply invested in best practices and evidence-based care in the areas I specialize in.
Work HistoryBefore becoming a counselor, I spent six years teaching special education, which taught me how to meet people where they are, stay curious about what's getting in the way, and believe in everyone's capacity to grow. That foundation shaped everything about how I show up as a therapist. I recently completed my master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Xavier University of Louisiana, where I spent my internship working with clients navigating a wide range of challenges — substance use, trauma, anxiety, depression, and major life transitions. That experience taught me how to hold space for people in real struggle and help them find their way forward. I'm now in clinical practice at two locations. At Theratique, my private practice, I work with individuals and couples on perinatal mental health, relationship concerns, and identity exploration. At the Broadmoor Improvement Association, a community arts and wellness center, I serve clients on a sliding scale basis because I believe therapy should be accessible. I'm also currently deepening my training in Emotionally Focused Therapy under clinical supervision. All of this — the teaching, the training, the work with real clients — continues to deepen my understanding of what it takes to help people build lives that feel true to who they are.
