Get To Know Me
If there was one thing you wish people knew about the therapy experience who might be hesitant to try it, what would that be?
Therapy is meant to be a safe space for you to talk about anything and no one outside of the session will know. It is a chance to reflect and make sense of this chaotic world and gain a deeper understanding of ourselves. It can be fun and we can laugh a lot! While there is a time a place to be serious and shed some tears, I love to celebrate my clients success and joys and even be glad when they no longer need me.
What do you view as a key component of the therapeutic relationship?
A key component of the therapeutic relationship is trust, as it creates a safe and supportive environment in which clients feel comfortable being open and vulnerable. Trust is fostered through the therapist’s consistent demonstration of empathy, reliability, and a nonjudgmental attitude. When clients feel genuinely understood and accepted without criticism, they are more likely to share their thoughts and emotions honestly. Maintaining clear boundaries and upholding confidentiality also reinforces this sense of safety and respect. Together, these elements build strong rapport, which is essential for exploring difficult issues, addressing harmful patterns, and supporting meaningful therapeutic change.
