Get To Know Me
What would be important for someone to know about working with you?
I value the use of creativity and homework. You can expect me to be active in sessions, often having us practice new skills together and coming up with plans for homework between sessions. I often use music as well as art as a part of our work together.
What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?
I work from a Polyvagal Theory lens, meaning I work a lot with your nervous system and helping you feel more regulated. I also utilize concepts from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and enjoy working with values as well as with mindfulness. I often pull from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to work on emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness. I'm trained in Brainspotting (BSP) and trained and certified in the Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP), and I would be happy to schedule a discovery call with you to share more about these modalities and explore if they could be a fit for you!
Are there any recurring themes or issues you’ve noticed as you treat people in your area of specialization, and how has this insight guided your approach?
I've notice a lot of my clients are looking for greater connection to themselves, to others, and to the world around them, but because of histories of anxiety or trauma, they seem to continually take steps that take them further away from the connection they want. Sometimes, it almost seems like that same connection they seek scares them. This insight helps guide my work in addressing both the desire for connection as well as the fear that can arise in approaching that connection.
