What was your path to becoming a therapist? What inspired you to choose this profession?
I have a lot of trauma from my childhood and when in college for my bachelor's degree all I wanted was to be able to help other children the way I wished someone had helped me when I was growing up. So, I started down a path to do just that. Having a passion for music I started as a music education major but quickly grew to not agree with my professors in the education department as I was told I wasn't there to support children, simply to educate them, so I started searching for another way to support children who had been through tough situations in life. I found Social Work, volunteered at Catholic Charities for the Diocese Bridging the Gap program and furthered my passion for helping people from children to people of all ages! While working at CPS I had many clients tell me they wished I could be their therapist because I just listened and understood where they were coming from more than what it appeared their therapist did, so it made me start to think and I eventually left the Cabinet and applied for my Master's program to gain my degree to pursue a clinical licensure where I could become a therapist.

Education
Campbellsville University, Master of Social Work, Clinical Area of Focus, 2024
Eastern Kentucky University, Bachelor of Science, Social Work, 2019 — I also completed the Public Child Welfare Certification Program while completing my bachelor's in social work.
Work HistoryAfter getting my bachelors degree in Social Work from EKU I worked for three years with the Cabinet for Health and Family Services Child Protection Division. I had a passion for helping families heal and return back to each other with positive coping mechanisms to handle any curveballs life may throw at them. Through this I was told on multiple occasions by clients and families that they wish I could be their therapist, so I set out to do just that! I went and got my Master's degree in Social Work from Campbellsville University and passed my CSW licensure exam in February 2025. I had over 700 hours of clinical practice during my master's program, started working at an intensive outpatient and outpatient behavioral health and rehabilitation facility. I worked there for half a year before joining Cultivate BHE in Lexington, KY (which is where I'm located now). I work with clients from all walks of life and love every second of my job. The old saying "If you love what you do, you'll never work a day in your life," rings very true for me! I thoroughly enjoy working with children, LGBTQIA+ population, and individuals.
