Get To Know Me
What is your style/approach to therapy?
My approach is trauma-informed, social justice-oriented, and grounded in intersectional feminist theory. This means I will not just focus on your symptoms, but also take into account the ways that all of the roles you play in your life and the pressures and expectations you feel from your relationships, your culture, and society as a whole impact your wellbeing. Our work together will be collaborative and my goal is to empower you and support you as you start to unpack the hard stuff. I will gently hold you accountable and frequently check in to make sure what we are doing is working for you and if we need to make any adjustments.
What are some the unique issues faced by clients in your particular field of specialization, in terms of mental health education, care, and/or treatment?
I work with adults 18+, most of whom are from marginalized genders, including cis women, trans women, trans men, and non-binary and gender non-conforming folks. The clients I work with are usually dealing with stress, anxiety, depression, and often some trauma. They feel unfulfilled, isolated, and struggle with self esteem, boundaries, and assertiveness.
What would be important for someone to know about working with you?
My practice is a safe, affirming place for all sexual orientations, gender identities, and gender expressions. I believe healthy and happy can look like any size. I welcome and support all relationship structures, including ethical non-monogamy and polyamory. I believe your empathy, sensitivity, compassion for the world around you, and whatever else you’ve been told is “too much,” are actually all of the wonderful things that make you you. I believe you are deserving of a life on your terms, one that works with your strengths, not against them. I believe you deserve to feel safe to explore and express your true self, really understand your desires, and develop the confidence to pursue the life you want.
