Under Clinical Supervision
Ms. Amina Nikocevic, Mental Health Counselor - Limited Permit, P109226 is practicing under the supervision of Christine Minieri (New York, LMHC, 006988) at BK Therapy: Minieri & Associates.
Please, note: A clinician listed as being “clinically supervised” is completing clinical hours toward their licensure. They have one or more fully licensed clinical supervisors that often have special training to become supervisors. They consult with their supervisor(s) on all of their cases, which means that, when working with them, you are getting the time and expertise of multiple therapists in your treatment.
What was your path to becoming a therapist? What inspired you to choose this profession?
Growing up in a home culture where discussing mental health or seeking services is still stigmatized, I have been drawn to therapy as I would like to continue the work to destigmatize asking for help by showing that issues related to mental health can manifest in various ways, including one’s physical health. I one day hope to not only open my own private practice here in the states and seek opportunities where psychoeducation is a priority but start psychoeducation in the country where my family is from to provide further resources.
What should we know about your experiences and background?
In our work together, I will be able to help you reflect on your life up until this point, as well as provide you with a new lens on the moments that have contributed to the person you are today. My hope is that we can begin to alter the story toward something that is more positive.
What would be important for someone to know about working with you?
I enjoy strengths-based approaches, narrative therapy, and positive psychology as I am interested in the shift of focusing on the positives as opposed to the negatives. I pride myself in taking on a nonjudgmental stance in order to create a space of comfort for adolescents and adults who are struggling with anxiety, depression, life transitions, self-esteem issues, and interpersonal issues. I look forward to our paths aligning!

Work History
I have a great deal of experience teaching, mentoring, and supporting individuals of various ages and abilities. I previously interned at an OASAS run facility known as CSEDNY in which I served to support individual clients regarding attaining specific life goals toward completion of their treatment program. While I learned a great deal at this position, I was interested in private practice work as it allows for more individualized and flexible client-centered approaches. My interest led me to begin to work in private practice where I continue to grow in more ways than I could have imagined possible on both a personal and professional level.
