How do you determine therapy goals with clients? What does that process look like?

I work collaboratively with clients to determine what they would like to get out of therapy. From there, we determine manageable goals for them. If those goals need to change, or no longer work for them, we will adjust the treatment plan accordingly. Every treatment plan looks different.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

I want clients to feel that I have heard and connected with them. I aim to create a safe space where clients are comfortable sharing. I also want clients to feel respected and understood. I believe that a good therapeutic relationship is the cornerstone for positive therapy work.

What would be important for someone to know about working with you?

I am a very transparent person and therapist. I do not shy away from asking challenging questions and sharing my observations with clients. I believe that an important part of therapy is working with the therapist to see what they are picking up that you may not. I believe in humor and hope; I utilize both in my practice. I have an overall optimistic view that clients can change at any point in their life.

Work History

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Wisconsin, and I hold a certification as a National Certified Counselor through the NBCC. I earned my Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Bradley University in 2014. My professional journey has led me to work in diverse treatment settings focused on alcohol and substance use disorders. I've had the opportunity to assist clients facing co-occurring disorders, navigating both substance use and mental health challenges. Witnessing clients progress towards positive change has been immensely rewarding. It's truly remarkable to see the transformative potential within each individual. I believe life presents significant challenges, and everyone deserves a safe space to express their current experiences. Some individuals reach their destination through a single journey, while others may need to explore multiple paths.
