Work HistoryI began my work history as a music educator and performer. I worked in a number of schools in North Texas and performed in various ensembles and as a solo artist in all sorts of settings including wine festivals, nursing homes, disabled adult care communities, and more. When I moved to Colorado for my first graduate degree, I continued teaching music independently and for drum and bugle corps in the Drum Corps International competitive circuit. During my graduate degree in music therapy, I completed clinical rotations providing music therapy services to older adults in an assisted care facility, middle schoolers and elementary schoolers in a special education classroom, adults on a locked inpatient psychiatric unit, and teens diverted from the juvenile justice system through a therapeutic mentoring program formerly called Campus Corps (now called Campus Connections). I completed my music therapy internship at the Colorado Mental Health Institute at Fort Logan working with adults with severe and persistent mental illness on locked units throughout the hospital. After I earned my Music Therapy Board Certification (MT-BC), I worked at Highlands Behavioral Health as an Experiential Therapist and for Rocky Mountain Music Therapy as an in-home Music Therapist. I returned later to work full-time as the primary Clinical Therapist on one of the units at CMHI-FL before beginning my private practice, Creative Remedies, and returning to school to complete my MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. During this graduate program, I completed clinical hours in a private practice based in Greenwood Village, Colorado under the supervision of Dr. Angela Schubert who remained my supervisor throughout my licensure requirements. Currently, I own and operate my group practice, Creative Remedies, and I continue to perform music regularly, write poetry, teach music, and consult with Seattle Cascades Drum & Bugle Corps.
