Get To Know Me
What was your path to becoming a therapist? What inspired you to choose this profession?
I was moved by how people develop their identities. Specifically, I spent time in men's groups focusing on questions of "what does it mean to be me" and struggles around "not knowing what it means to be a 'man'". This questioning and reflection I also took within my own story to realize I want to help others in this journey of finding themselves. Now, I've worked with many people of all backgrounds with these questions and continue to serve this foundation of self-exploration and realization.
What would be important for someone to know about working with you?
I believe therapy is a space of openness and nonjudgment. I take a very curious position in the therapy space, asking questions to see not only the challenges you face, but the potential of who you want to be. I believe the power to change comes from within and can be fulfilled with experiences outside of ourselves, meaning I can work with you to realize what is within you to help you re-author yourself.
Were there lessons in your professional or academic career that left an impression on you, and how has that informed your work today?
One thing that stands out is what we tend to carry and internalize and what we do not. An example of this is "I am not a good person" or "I always make mistakes," finding these stories of "what I am not" to be the most dominant. Oftentimes, this turns into believing ourselves to be the problem. I've found this sentiment is repeated in our experiences with the world, such as remarks made from others or experiences that have hurt us to further ingrain this belief. I want to help you see how that is not the only story you carry, and move from "I am the problem" to "the problem is the problem".

Education
Seton Hall University, Master of Education, Professional Counseling , 2022 — Areas of focused study included masculinity work as well as humanistic approaches around social narratives and empowerment.
Work HistoryI began my work as an intern with Resolution Counseling Center, focusing on helping people, families, and couples with the challenges in their lives. There, I gained experience through a family systems lens, meaning that who we are is closely tied to the experiences we had in our upbringing, particularly how our families of origin shaped us. I also dedicated myself to Narrative approaches, which detail how stories we tell about ourselves shape our perspective, leading to who we are and how we move through the world. Following graduation, I continued to develop my skills and style at Resolution, eventually becoming a team manager helping other clinicians develop their approach and work as counselors. I also began focusing on Internal Family Systems and Parts work, which entails how the many Parts of ourselves interfere with how we want our Self to be, looking to move towards harmony and collaboration within our internal systems. Before going on my own, I worked with Harmony Bay Wellness, continuing to develop an approach that is holistic, person-centered, and non-directive, meaning I do not speak about what is best for you or what I think you need, but rather draw that out of you through questions, compassion, and support. I've come to see myself as a guide with the people I work with, recognizing you as an expert on your story and wanting to help you shape that story to serve you better.
