What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?
I provide clients with an evidence-based therapy modality called Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I help clients identify their triggers by examining their thoughts before and during their anxiety attacks or dissociative experiences. Clients then learn how to change their thought patterns to avoid becoming distressed. I also incorporate mindful elements into therapy sessions. Teaching clients how to hone their attention to stay present in their current feelings and sensations. By using grounding techniques, clients can begin to manage their emotions, which can decrease their symptoms. I never pushes clients to disclose information they don’t feel comfortable sharing, and strives to create a safe, warm atmosphere during sessions. Recognizing the complexities of trauma and encouraging clients to be patient with themselves as they go through the healing process is a specialty of mine.

Work HistoryI started my journey interning at University of North Texas Wellness Center during my graduate program. I worked with college students who struggled with anxiety, depression, adjustment issues, and school concerns. I then moved to further my internship at a non-profit organization working with females who struggled with sexual assault trauma and domestic violence. From this experience I have learned more about trauma and PTSD. I am now working at Luminary Counseling, PLLC under the supervision of Jennifer Buffalo, LPC-S, LMFT as an individual counselor helping those who struggle with a multitude of mental health issues. I also work part-time at Cross Creek Hospital providing group therapy and support for client's.
