What was your path to becoming a therapist? What inspired you to choose this profession?
My path into this work began early. Growing up with a brother who has developmental disabilities meant living in a home where stress, overwhelm, and dysregulation were often present. Our family did the best we could, but I saw firsthand how deeply nervous system stress impacts not just one person, but the entire family system.
I also witnessed the powerful role that attuned, supportive professionals can play in restoring balance and hope. These experiences shaped my respect for family systems and my commitment to creating therapeutic spaces rooted in safety, understanding, and compassion.
In what ways have your personal experiences influenced your work with your clients?
Like many people drawn to this work, my path has been shaped by my own family of origin experiences and personal healing journey. Through this process, I have developed a deep respect for how early relationships, nervous system stress, and attachment patterns can shape the way we move through the world.
My own healing has included work through EMDR, the HOCI model, and Transforming Touch®. These experiences have reinforced my belief that healing is not linear. It unfolds over time and often requires patience, compassion, and the willingness to meet ourselves with curiosity rather than judgment.
Doing my own work allows me to sit with clients in a grounded and authentic way. I understand that growth can be challenging, and I deeply respect the courage it takes for clients to begin and continue their healing process.
What is your style/approach to therapy?
My approach to therapy blends Eastern philosophy with Western trauma-informed practices. Through my training and travels in Asia, I developed a deep respect for mindfulness, meditation, yoga, and other body-based traditions that emphasize awareness, presence, and the wisdom of the body. I integrate these perspectives with evidence-based Western therapies such as attachment-focused work, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).
I believe healing happens when we work with both the mind and the body. Many experiences, especially trauma and chronic stress, are held in the nervous system, not just in our thoughts. Because of this, my work focuses on nervous system regulation, safety, and connection before pushing for change.
Sessions are paced gently and collaboratively, helping clients build awareness of their internal experience while developing practical tools for regulation, emotional resilience, and healthier relationships.
By blending these approaches, therapy becomes both grounded and holistic—supporting healing that is sustainable and deeply integrated.
