Get To Know Me
In what ways does your personality influence your approach to therapy?
I'm very friendly and this shows through in my work, client's and individuals I meet outside the therapy office can tell I'm warm. I'm also no-nonsense. This typically shows up in therapy when we are discussing relationship dynamics and boundaries. I am kind, and can deliver directness with gentleness, but I also don't pretend that unhealthy behavior or dynamics are anything else when helping client's navigate situations. A boundary is a boundary and I love helping client's set boundaries with grace and love.
I think this comes from 2 aspects of my life: being an older sibling and training horses for many years.
When you're an older sibling, there is a protectiveness and assertiveness that develops from that unique type of responsibility. I take my responsibility as a therapist seriously so I will not pretend that unhealthy behavior is healthy.
When training horses, you have to hold boundaries or you will will be putting yourself and anyone who works with that horse in danger of being hurt. This experience helped me to learn to respect not just myself but the boundaries of others (horses and humans) and navigate boundaries with consistency and gentleness.

Work HistoryI love working with individuals struggling with anxiety, panic disorder, and trauma. I am very relational and very practical - so I create a comfortable dynamic that feels very conversational, pairing empathy and a solution focused approach. I love teaching skills, and that's typically where I start with new clients. Once client's learn and feel comfortable with the skills to help them manage their anxiety, then we dive into where the anxiety came from and how to support progress over time. I work with men and women, and most of my clients are oldest children who feel overwhelmed by the responsibilities on their plate and don't know how to rest without feeling lazy. I help client's learn to like themselves, genuinely, and navigate relationships in ways that honor their needs and still show care for other's.
