Get To Know Me
What would be important for someone to know about working with you?
They can always count on me to support them in any way possible from my end. They can be honest with me and talk to me about any topic (good or bad), and always expect decency and mutual respect, even if they feel that it could be a difficult conversation.
What is your style/approach to therapy?
I like to approach therapy in a trauma-informed and judgment-free manner. To have grace and empathy for each client that I am working with, regardless of their presentation and demographics. My style of therapy is to keep things humorous, light, and easy-going, so that the client feels comfortable in sharing their deepest thoughts and feelings, without feeling like they are talking to an "all-knowing, sitting on an ivory tower above me" entity. I believe in letting my clients see me as a fellow, flawed human being (with a therapist of her own), who doesn't have all the answers, but who is there to aid and walk with them in their healing journey.
What does a first session with you look like?
A first session with me is usually very low-stakes and all about knowing the client and their personality. I like to know about the client, their interests, their hobbies, likes, and dislikes, and most importantly, what they hope to achieve in therapy. I don't approach heavy topics or anything serious unless the client brings it up. I also like to use that session as a time for the client to understand me, my personality, and if they have any questions or concerns regarding therapy (or me), that I can alleviate. It is important for them to know me too, and see if they feel comfortable with me to continue working with me.
