What is your style/approach to therapy?

My approach is collaborative and empathic. I focus on building a sense of trust in the relationship and genuine acceptance toward who you are and the experiences, identities, and perspectives you bring to therapy. I work on supporting you to understand the many experiences and circumstances that have shaped you and shaped the ways you have learned to protect yourself. Then I work with you to understand your values and aspirations and build self-compassion on the journey to living a life you are happy and at peace with. It may be a tough and confusing journey, but I will be there to support you along the way.

If there was one thing you wish people knew about the therapy experience who might be hesitant to try it, what would that be?

Therapy is challenging and yet, you should feel supported and heard by your therapist throughout the journey, hopefully making it a little less daunting to experience.

Work History

I have worked at both community clinics and in private practice, delivering outpatient, in-person and remote psychotherapy services in English and Spanish to individuals and families, with varying cultural, ethnic, and linguistic backgrounds. I have worked with children, adolescents, and adults, primarily using interventions rooted in psychodynamic therapy, internal family systems therapy, acceptance commitment therapy, and attachment theory. In essence, I have worked to support clients understand past experiences and the roots of their challenges, process their effects, and create self-compassion and acceptance. I have also worked at an eating disorder residential treatment center, supporting adult clients in developing and/or restoring healthy eating patterns, self-image, treatment motivation, and relational connections.
