Get To Know Me
What was your path to becoming a therapist? What inspired you to choose this profession?
I am curious about all people as individuals and I have a constant need to learn about my areas of interest. This lead me to pursue the doctoral degree over time, as I worked within the field.
In what ways does your personality influence your approach to therapy?
I believe we are all imperfect and our diversity is essential for a health society. As a result, I don't try to hide my personality from my clients and you will see some imperfections along the way. This helps you feel comfortable to do the same and we will benefit from accepting each other. My communication style is pretty direct and I'm not afraid of asking the difficult questions.
How does collaboration with other providers play into your work?
I am very open and willing to communicate with other providers. It is sometimes essential to talk with other professionals, partners, or family to gain clarity for my clients. Any conversations would be done only with approval and open communication with my client.

Work HistoryI have spent the past 20 years helping individuals from many different backgrounds and in many different situations. I have worked with families and children, people in psychiatric hospitals, and incarcerated individuals. Because I have always focused on getting to know the person first, my ability to create positive relationships with my clients has always been a strength. As I've studied the science of psychology and worked with more and more people, I have developed a deep understanding for the struggles we all face. I have also now helped so many people through difficult times that I have an amazing toolbox of examples and helpful strategies for many of our shared difficulties. For the past 10 years, I have worked with some of the most complex individuals but have also focused on supervision and consultation for my fellow professionals. As a result, I have developed expertise in complicated diagnostic situations and advanced skills in communicating with clients and professionals alike.
