What was your path to becoming a therapist? What inspired you to choose this profession?
I became a therapist after I struggled with depression, anxiety, and a suicide attempt early in life. I had less than positive therapeutic experiences. At first, I thought therapy wasn't for me. Then I finally realized, it was about finding the right fit as a therapist. Now I stive to be the therapist I never found.
In what ways have your personal experiences influenced your work with your clients?
While I originally became a therapist because of my adolescent experiences, it was my adulthood experiences that lead to my current therapeutic niche. Despite my knowledge, and years of practice, I was completely unprepared for the loss of my son. I now combine my knowledge, practice, and personal experience to help others face their unimaginable losses.
