Get To Know Me
What does a first session with you look like?
It begins when you first email me. I respond personally with my availability and rates.
Before our first session, I send a confidential intake form. It gives you space to share your background, what has brought you to therapy, and what you are hoping will be different. I read it carefully so that when we meet, we can get straight to work.
The first session is not intake. I will have already reviewed what you shared, and I will come prepared with questions and clinical observations. You will leave with a real sense of what we are working on and how I approach it.
Are there any recurring themes or issues you’ve noticed as you treat people in your area of specialization, and how has this insight guided your approach?
The most consistent thing I have noticed across every specialty I work in is this: the presenting problem is rarely the whole story. Someone arrives because of anxiety. Underneath it is a relationship with themselves they have never been able to trust. Someone arrives because of grief. Underneath it is an identity that was built around the person they lost. Someone arrives because of burnout. Underneath it is years of performance while quietly losing themselves.
This pattern has shaped everything about how I work. I do not treat symptoms in isolation. I follow the thread back to where the self got disconnected, and that is where the real work begins. The question underneath every specialty I practice is the same: who are you when life has pulled you away from yourself? The answer is different for each person. The work of finding it is what every session is about.
What do you view as a key component of the therapeutic relationship?
Trust. Without it, nothing else in the room works.
I am an active, engaged clinician. I ask direct questions, share my clinical impressions, and offer real guidance. Therapy with me is not a space where I sit quietly and reflect your words back to you. I am genuinely present in every session. If something is getting in your way, I will name it. If I see a pattern, I will say so. If you are ready to move, we move.
That engagement does not come at the expense of care. I adapt my approach to what you are carrying, how you process, and what you need in any given session. Some sessions call for structure and tools. Others call for sitting inside something difficult together. I follow your lead while keeping us both oriented toward the work.

Education
University of South Florida, Master of Arts, Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling, 2017 — Graduate Certificate in Marriage and Family Therapy, University of South Florida, 2016. Specialized clinical training in systemic approaches to working with couples and families, completed within the Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling program.
University of South Florida, Bachelor of Arts, Psychology, 2014 — King O'Neal Scholar, Graduated First in Class. Psi Chi International Honor Society in Psychology.
Work HistoryDuring my graduate training at the University of South Florida, I served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant, which deepened my understanding of counseling theory and sharpened my ability to explain complex ideas in plain language.
In 2015 I completed a four-day Emotionally Focused Therapy externship through National Marriage Seminars, trained in the approach developed by Dr. Sue Johnson. EFT has remained central to how I work with couples ever since.
I began my clinical career as a Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern and Registered Marriage and Family Therapist Intern at Alexander T. Gimon, PhD & Associates, P.A. in the Tampa Bay area. Working in a group practice setting gave me a strong clinical foundation and a clear sense of the kind of practice I wanted to build: one where the work could be shaped entirely around the client, without the constraints that come with insurance-based care.
I opened Audrey Therapy, P.A. in January 2016 as a private-pay solo practice. In the 10+ years I have been in practice, one organizing question has shaped everything I do: who are you when life has pulled you away from yourself? People come to me carrying grief, anxiety, burnout, panic, narcissistic abuse, relational loss, and questions about who they are. The work looks different for each person, but the destination is the same: healing what has hurt you, and helping you return to yourself.
