Education
Antioch University Seattle, Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Addiction Studies, 2023 — I completed Antioch University's CACREP-accredited counseling program, which means this program's curriculum and faculty is vetted for quality based on the standards of The Council for Accreditation of Counseling & Related Educational Programs. My education at Antioch focused on trauma-informed, multicultural approaches to counseling infused with social justice values. I was a member of Antioch's honors society as well as the student group Counselors for Social Justice. I completed a Certificate in Addiction Studies, which fulfills educational requirements to obtain state licensure for substance use-specific assessment and treatment, and am currently accruing clinical hours as a Substance Use Disorder Professional Trainee.
Work HistoryIn addition to my private practice, I work as a substance use and mental health counselor at Clarity Mental Health Recovery in Bellingham, WA. Here I have received both training and experience in working with the crossover between substance use and mental health. Prior to this, I worked at the Antioch Community Care clinic as mental health counselor for both individuals and families. I have also worked as a volunteer counselor at Crisis Text Line, where I supported individuals experiencing a wide range of mental health crises. Before I became a mental health counselor, I worked in the editorial field for a decade specializing in drug policy, health, and science which provided a strong foundation for understanding substance use from a broader social, political, cultural, and biological perspective.
