What are your biggest strengths as a therapist?
As a therapist, I believe my greatest strengths are empathy and compassion. These qualities guide everything I do in the counseling room. For me, empathy means truly listening and understanding not only the words my clients share but also the feelings and experiences beneath them. I strive to step into each person’s world without judgment, offering a space where they feel safe, seen, and valued.
Compassion allows me to meet clients where they are, honoring their struggles while also holding hope for their growth and healing. I understand that seeking therapy can feel vulnerable, and I never take that courage for granted. My role is to walk alongside each client, supporting them with patience, encouragement, and respect as they navigate their unique journey.
I believe healing happens when we feel deeply understood and cared for. By combining empathy and compassion, I aim to help clients feel empowered, supported, and capable of creating meaningful change in their lives.

Work HistoryBenita’s journey into counseling has been shaped by both professional experiences and her own personal story of resilience. Before pursuing her graduate degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, she managed an oral surgery clinic, where she learned that patients often needed more than medical care—they needed reassurance, compassion, and someone to help them feel safe during difficult times.
Her work as a life coach deepened this calling. Benita guided individuals through relationship struggles, self-esteem challenges, and life transitions, helping them uncover their strengths and step into a more empowered version of themselves. Alongside this, her photography business taught her the art of truly seeing people, their emotions, essence, and stories, which strengthened her belief that every person deserves to feel recognized and valued.
As a survivor of domestic violence and betrayal trauma, Benita brings both empathy and understanding to her work. She knows how much courage it takes to rebuild a sense of worth and safety, and this personal experience drives her passion to support others on their healing journey.
Today, Benita specializes in working with clients facing relationship issues, domestic and intimate partner violence, and challenges with self-esteem. She blends holistic practices with evidence-based counseling approaches, always tailoring her work to the unique needs of each client. Her goal is to create a safe, compassionate space where people feel heard, validated, and empowered to move toward a life of greater balance, clarity, and hope.
