What was your path to becoming a therapist? What inspired you to choose this profession?
When my child needed therapy as a teenager and I struggled to find a therapist who was both competent and compassionate, I was inspired to become part of the solution. When we finally found the right therapist for my teen, it was a game changer. Now I seek to do the same for other teens, as well as work with highly motivated adults who are looking to move the dial on their lives.
In what ways does your personality influence your approach to therapy?
I have a zest for life and am deeply optimistic about people and how they can effect meaningful change in their lives. I think my humor and warmth make it easy for my clients to let their guards down and do the real work.
What is your style/approach to therapy?
The client is the expert on their own life! I am there to guide and provide perspective, but never to direct or presume I know more about their experience than I do. I want the client to feel comfortable sharing when they are ready to share, and I encourage authenticity, as the real magic happens when we keep it real.

Work HistoryMy background is not that of a typical therapist. I spent over 25 years working in the global investment management industry at an executive level, holding leadership positions where I was responsible for large groups of people and substantial budgets. However, what I was always best at was the people side of the work: finding the good in people, encouraging employees to understand their own potential, and helping leaders access and maximize the greatest strengths of their employees. And now I do those same things with my clients.
As a therapist, I have worked with a variety of ages groups, genders, sexual orientations, and ethnicities. It is an honor to work with motivated clients and witness true and meaningful change in their lives. My clients often offer the observation that I’m not always like other therapists. They describe me as “non-judgmental…..full of ideas…..friendly and compassionate…..highly engaged and interactive,” and sometimes…… “funny!”
Prior to starting my own private practice, I worked for a non-profit and a private group, giving me extensive exposure to various therapy styles and a variety of supervision perspectives.
