Get To Know Me
What would be important for someone to know about working with you?
My therapy approach is treating each client with empathy and genuine compassion and creating a safe environment for the client to feel supported and empowered. I have a background of providing strength-based, trauma-informed care.
I believe that everyone has a unique journey in life, that each treatment is personalized, and that we can break past psychological barriers to achieve your full potential together for yourself and for your partner.
What does a first session with you look like?
All sessions start with a thorough assessment phase where I get to know each of you as a couple and as an individual, as well as gain useful information about family of origin history, rituals, and culture, core beliefs, and goals or concerns.
From these assessments, we can begin looking at your strengths and areas that need improvement and start setting goals as to what the focus of therapy will contain. Sessions will be with you as a couple, unless I feel that an individual session is necessary as it pertains to the relationship.
Session lengths are 75 minutes. Longer sessions are beneficial for couples therapy as it gives each partner enough time to practice new skills and share what they each need to express.
What’s the most profound, insightful, or interesting thing you’ve learned as a mental health professional?
The most profound thing that I have learned as a therapist is that I learn from my clients, which informs my practice and makes me a better therapist. I have the privilege of witnessing change right before my eyes through the strength, bravery, tenacity, and resilience that my clients have. Even if they do not believe that they are strong enough to get through challenges in their lives - with OCD and/or in their relationships - after working together, they start to see that they are stronger than they think they are and are capable of change. That revelation inspires me to continue my work in helping more clients do the same.

Work HistoryI have gained valuable experience working in clinical settings with school-based children, youths, and families, with an emphasis on the special education field. I also have experience working with adults and children in a residential substance abuse treatment center and have served as the Program Director in an adult residential eating disorder facility, providing therapy to clients with co-occurring disorders such as anxiety, depression, PTSD, severe mental health, grief and loss, personality disorders, and bipolar disorder.
Throughout my therapy career, I have been interested in exploring the depths and complexities of couples and became trained in using Gottman Method for couples therapy and Emotionally Focused Therapy for couples in crisis in my therapy work.
I also specialize in treating patients with OCD using Exposure Response Prevention (ERP). I teach clients how to manage intrusive thoughts and compulsions. For OCD clients I hold individual sessions and couples sessions, as OCD symptoms can greatly impact the self as well as all relationships.
