Professional Background

Work HistoryI am a licensed psychologist in Texas (PSY #40012). I earned my doctorate in counseling psychology from the University of Texas at Austin, following my pre-doctoral internship at Texas Woman’s University in Denton, Texas, where I also held my first professional position. I bring over 30 years of experience as a mental health provider in higher education counseling centers, including Texas Woman’s University, Utah State University, Brown University, Williams College, and the University of Texas at Dallas.
Throughout my career, I have worked with diverse populations across age, relationship status, race, culture, religion, disability, and gender and sexual identities. My clinical experience encompasses a wide range of presenting concerns, including anxiety and depressive disorders, psychosis, adjustment difficulties, acculturation challenges, complex trauma, interpersonal relationship issues, identity development, and social justice concerns.
My psychotherapy practice integrates evidence-based approaches tailored to each individual, including but not limited to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), trauma-informed care, solution-focused, feminist, and multicultural counseling frameworks.
When I’m not working, I enjoy spending time with family and friends — doing just about anything, or nothing at all. I appreciate a good non-work-related book, music of all kinds, and walks in nature (flat terrain preferred). An outdoor concert with great music, good company, food trucks, and a well-stocked picnic blanket is my idea of a perfect day. I love to travel, explore different cultures, visit art museums and pop-up galleries, and learn new skills — including my recent foray into guitar lessons.
