Under Clinical Supervision

Brandee Hansen, Associate Clinical Social Worker, 13444581-3502 is practicing under the supervision of Jennifer Morrill (Utah, Licensed Psychologist, 5637060-2501) at Utah Psychological Associates.

Please, note: A clinician listed as being “clinically supervised” is completing clinical hours toward their licensure. They have one or more fully licensed clinical supervisors that often have special training to become supervisors. They consult with their supervisor(s) on all of their cases, which means that, when working with them, you are getting the time and expertise of multiple therapists in your treatment.

What would be important for someone to know about working with you?

An ideal client for me is someone with high motivation to improve their own life. Anyone who wants to be a better person than they were yesterday will benefit from treatment with me. I enjoy working with people who are open to learning more about themselves, as well as other people and the world around them. A person that wants to increase their empathy skills would also be a great match.

What does a first session with you look like?

A first session with me is mostly me asking a lot of personal questions and trying to get a feel for who you are. I have an AWESOME sense of humor (if I may say so myself), and I crack a LOT of jokes. Sometimes I like to color in coloring books or play with fidgets or puzzles while we talk.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

My go-to methodologies are CBT and DBT. I also use MI, trauma-focus, mindfulness, IFS and self-disclosure to relate to the client and create acceptance of self and a client-centered approach. Not all therapists use self-disclosure. But I find that it really helps me connect with my clients on their level and helps them feel comfortable with me. Also, I have a dog that I'm training to be a therapy dog. I'm happy to bring her in for anyone who'd like to help her get more training!

Work History

I'm open to work with all ages and stages of clients. When I was in school I used to say the two populations I would NOT want to work with were prison inmates and teenagers, but now those are my favorite clients! I've been working with prison inmates for almost 4 years also at an outpatient substance use treatment facility and sober living. I also see a range of teenagers and I absolutely love them (even more surprisingly, they love me!) l have experience with couples and families as well as individuals. Most of my experience has been targeted to substance use, but I'm also skilled in treating anxiety and depression, sexual trauma and disorders, Queer or questioning sexuality, gender dysphoria, OCD and eating disorders. I also do some Maternal and Prenatal therapy.
