What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?
There are a few benefits of outdoor sessions that differ from office sessions. For many, the physical movement makes a difference. Even the light exercise of walking has a physical and psychological effect that can cause us to find new perspectives that we hadn’t been able to see previously. Whether you are struggling with anxiety, depression, bereavement/ grief & loss, trauma, or life transitions, Licensed Professional Counselors (LPCs) can provide a source of hope, encouragement and guidance during very difficult times in clients' lives.

Work HistoryI am a proud alum of the University of Alabama at Birmingham's Counselor Education program (MA 12/2000) where I served as the President of the Zeta Chapter of Chi Sigma Iota. I have been an LPC since 2005 and a Supervising Counselor since 2011. I am also a National Board Certified Counselor (2006-Present).
I am the owner of The JOURNEY Counseling Services and Rodgers Professional Services LLC, which provides counseling and clinical supervision services. Some of the areas that I work with are anxiety, depression, bereavement, trauma, and life transitions.
I currently also work in the school counseling arena, serving as a District Interventionist for Hoover City Schools. I am a certified School Counselor. Previously I served as the Dean of Counseling & Residential Life for Indian Springs School. Prior to that, I served nine years as a counselor and Associate Director of The Amelia Center at Children's of Alabama. I also have served as Director of the Employee Assistance Program for Behavioral Health Systems- providing client companies from throughout the country with wellbeing-focused programs and services.
I am a Crisis Response Provider with R3Continuum (since 2000). I have assisted with responses to bank robberies, employee deaths, downsizing events, and national crises including Hurricane Katrina and the Pulse Nightclub shooting in Orlando, Florida.
I believe that the counseling process should be one that helps clients gain perspective and feel heard. I use a variety of techniques to normalize reactions, develop coping strategies and gain a sense of control when life's journey seems unsure.
