What does a first session with you look like?

The first session includes a lot if information gathering and does not go into a treatment plan. It is about getting to know you or your child in order to prioritize needs and understand your strengths as well as what brought you to therapy. If therapy is being sought out for a teen then I always like to have the first session include a parent or guardian, so they can give input and be aware of what to expect.

Life can leave you feeling overwhelmed and drained but you do not have to face your challenges alone. Where ever you may be in your journey of personal growth and healing, I will be there to help guide you along the way. Your choice in seeking help is one that takes great strength and bravery. Many things can hold us back from being fully present and enjoying positive moments in our lives. My goal is to work alongside you to help you better understand your present circumstances, and provide hope and support as we come together to determine what goals fit your unique needs. I have a passion for working with individuals in the areas of anxiety, depression, relationships, life transitions, infertility, stress management, ADHD among others. I accept 12yrs+ & can target areas such as low self esteem, emotional regulation, school problems, parental divorce, pressures w/social media & difficulty with navigating peer relationships etc. I promote a warm nonjudgmental environment to help you feel safe/comfortable. Together we will uncover strengths and obstacles to help you take steps forward. Taking time to grow and learn is one of the best gifts you can give yourself. Therapy is a space that facilitates healing and growth for people of all ages and I cannot wait for you to begin a journey

Work History

Teens I have a certification in school social work and spent many years in that field. I have experience working with kids who were placed in a self-contained school setting due to emotional and behavior challenges. I have worked with kids who have autism, personality disorders, ADHD, learning difficulties, anxiety, depression, severe emotional impairments, among others. I understand the importance of building a trusting relationship and meeting kids where they are at. Anxiety I have a passion in the area of anxiety. Anxiety is very common and can have a huge impact on daily living. A lot of times people are not fully aware of the unconscious thoughts that they have when faced with triggers, so in addition to looking at various coping skill, I also like to use a cognitive behavioral approach. Women Issues Women's issues that I specialize in include infertility, pregnancy, postpartum depression and balancing life as a mom. I understand that women face hard and unique challenges and can be left not feeling like themselves pre and post pregnancy. Having someone to reach out to when you are feeling stuck and unsure of how to move forward can make a world of a difference in your mental health.
