What was your path to becoming a therapist? What inspired you to choose this profession?
My passion for therapy began as a client. I experienced first-hand the power of therapy in both individual and couples therapy. It changed my life in ways I never expected and I felt compelled to help others! After working for 20 years in small business, I enrolled in graduate school to pursue my therapy career. Since then I have felt certain that I am on the right path being in the therapy profession.
In what ways does your personality influence your approach to therapy?
My therapy style and personality naturally align with the person-centered approach. The space that I create in therapy is based on the tenets of person-centered therapy including unconditional positive regard, the belief that each individual has the right and power to discover the best path for their own personal growth, and that an honest, empathic connection helps clients get in touch with and eventually embrace their most authentic selves. I have experienced all of this as a client in my own therapy, and it is this powerful experience along with my natural love of people in all of their uniqueness that allows me to create this space for others!
