Education
Wilkes University, Master of Science in Nursing, Concentration area on Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Studies, 2014 — Building off the skill set obtained with nursing experience and undergrad education, the MSN focusing on Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Studies is centered around preparing the prospective graduate to transition to an independent mental health provider. Before obtaining my MSN, I worked as a psychiatric nurse. I graduated Summa Cum Laude from Wilkes University. I have maintained my membership in Sigma Theta Tau since my invitation in 2008.
University of Phonenix, Bachelor of Science in Nursing, 2008 — In addition to building on the fundamental nursing skills obtained during my AAS in Nursing, it focused on a higher-level view of patient needs and the healthcare system as a whole. During my undergraduate studies, I was invited to join Sigma Theta Tau, the national society recognizing the top tier of nursing students. I graduated from University of Phoenix Summa Cum Laude, the highest level of honors in cumulative GPA.
Work HistoryMy approach is all-encompassing- I look at any potential influences on mental health- relationships, home environment, and underlying medical issues that may have not been uncovered yet. Over time I found myself enjoying challenging scenarios that offer the opportunity to "think outside the box" approaches. This led to the discovery of the complexities of geriatric psychiatry, testing for all scenarios related to memory concerns, and the awareness that there is often an element of grieving attached to the loss of independence, loved ones, and a lifestyle once enjoyed. We are all multifaceted, and our needs demand a unique plan. Working with multiple unknowns has led to a variety of strategies to get to the root of the problem or problems. Attention to seemingly small details and patterns can change outcomes, and it is incredible to see renewed hope where it was lost. My priority from the start is building a relationship where they feel comfortable talking to me as though I am a trusted friend. I consider it an honor that they are putting their faith in me to help them during a time of vulnerability. I do not take this lightly. I want everyone to feel as though the plan developed was centered around their priorities.
