Get To Know Me
What was your path to becoming a therapist? What inspired you to choose this profession?
My path to becoming a therapist was deeply personal. I’ve lived with anxiety for as long as I can remember and spent much of my life feeling overwhelmed, misunderstood, and unsupported. I also have ADHD, which added another layer of challenge, especially when it came to managing daily responsibilities and regulating emotions. For a long time, I didn’t have the tools—or the support—I needed. It wasn’t until adulthood that I sought therapy for myself and finally began to understand what was going on in my brain and body. That experience changed everything. I learned how to manage my anxiety, work with my ADHD, and feel more in control of my life.
What inspired me to become a therapist was a desire to offer others the kind of support I wish I had growing up. I know how isolating it can feel when you’re struggling and don’t have a roadmap. Now, my goal is to help teens and young adults develop practical tools, self-compassion, and a greater sense of control—so they don’t have to figure it all out alone.
In what ways have your personal experiences influenced your work with your clients?
My personal experiences with anxiety have deeply shaped how I show up as a therapist. Because I’ve been there, I don’t just understand anxiety on a clinical level—I know what it feels like from the inside. I know how overwhelming it can be when your thoughts race, your body feels out of control, and nothing seems to quiet the panic. That lived experience allows me to bring true empathy into the room. Clients don’t have to explain what anxiety feels like to me—I already get it.
This helps me create a space that feels safe, validating, and nonjudgmental. I also know firsthand that anxiety doesn’t define you and that real, lasting relief is possible with the right tools and support. My goal is to help clients feel less alone, more understood, and genuinely hopeful about what’s possible for them.

Education
Capella University, Associate of Applied Arts, Contemporary Theory in Couple and Family Systems, 2015 — I also completed a Graduate Certificate in Contemporary Theory in Couple and Family Systems, graduating with a 4.0 GPA. This specialized training expanded my understanding of relational dynamics, communication patterns, and systemic influences on mental health. I gained practical tools for working with couples and families, helping them improve connection, resolve conflict, and foster healthy, supportive relationships. These insights continue to inform my work with clients seeking deeper connection and lasting change in their relationships.
Capella University, Master of Science, Counseling, 2013 — I earned my Master of Science in School Counseling from Capella University, graduating with a 4.0 GPA and membership in Chi Sigma Iota, the international counseling honor society. This CACREP-accredited program provided comprehensive training in mental health theory, human development, ethical practice, and evidence-based counseling approaches. My studies included advanced work in individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, and multicultural competence. This strong academic and clinical foundation supports my current work in helping clients manage anxiety, navigate life transitions, and build emotional resilience.
University of Rhode Island, Bachelor of Arts, Psychology, 2008 — I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Rhode Island, where I excelled academically and developed a strong foundation in psychological theory, research methods, and human behavior. Through my coursework, I gained a deep understanding of cognitive, emotional, and social development, which continues to inform my clinical work today. My undergraduate studies sparked my passion for mental health and laid the groundwork for my continued training and specialization as a therapist.
Work HistoryBefore starting my private practice, I worked in a variety of settings that helped shape my approach as a therapist. I’ve worked as a mental health clinician in schools through a hospital partnership, as a school counselor supporting students and families directly, and as an intensive in-home therapist helping teens and parents navigate crisis moments. These experiences gave me a deep understanding of the real-world challenges young people and their families face. Over the years, I’ve focused primarily on working with adolescents and young adults, helping them manage anxiety, build emotional tools, and feel more in control of their lives. Now, in private practice, I bring all of that experience into the room—so we can work together in a way that’s supportive, practical, and grounded in what actually works.
