Get To Know Me
What does a first session with you look like?
A first session involves getting to know one another and completing an initial assessment. This assessment helps us create a plan to achieve your treatment goals. It is very informal and is very helpful to starting therapy together! I simply ask some questions and explore the issues you're experiencing so I can more fully understand why you're in therapy. Feel free to share what you're comfortable with!
What is your style/approach to therapy?
My approach as a therapist is collaborative and empowering. I strive to create a warm, inclusive space where each client feels safe to take an active role in their healing journey. A key component of my practice is helping clients develop self-compassion, which I believe is foundational to lasting well-being. In treatment, I use an eclectic approach that includes CBT, DBT, and ACT while incorporating somatic practices. With younger clients, I use art therapy and play therapy during sessions.
What are your biggest strengths as a therapist?
I am not judgmental, and you can bring all of your views, thoughts, and opinions to the session. I value different perspectives and I always keep in mind that YOU are the expert of YOU. I ask many open-ended questions with an exploratory manner. People are very comfortable talking with me, as I am a highly empathic listener. I strike a great balance of listening and "working."
