Get To Know Me
What would be important for someone to know about working with you?
Therapy should feel like a place where you can show up as your real self, not the version you think you’re supposed to be.
You don’t have to have the perfect words, a clear plan, or your life figured out before starting therapy. Most people come in feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure where to even begin. That’s normal.
My role is to help you slow things down, make sense of what’s going on, and build tools that actually help outside the therapy room.
I believe therapy works best when it feels collaborative. You’re the expert on your life and your experiences. My job is to bring perspective, skills, and support so we can figure things out together.
I also believe growth happens through curiosity and compassion, not judgment. Many people carry a lot of self-criticism or pressure to “have it all together.” Therapy can be a place to challenge those patterns and start building a healthier relationship with yourself.
Together we focus on:
-Understanding your emotions and patterns
-Building healthier coping strategies
-Strengthening confidence and self-trust
-Learning skills for navigating relationships and stress
The goal isn’t perfection. The goal is helping you feel more grounded, more confident, and better equipped to handle life as it comes.
What does a first session with you look like?
Our first session is really about getting to know you: what’s been going on, what’s working, and what feels hard right now. I’ll ask questions to understand your story, but there’s no pressure to share everything at once. We’ll move at your pace.
The first session is kind of like a getting-to-know-you interview about your life.
I’ll ask a lot of questions… not to put you on the spot, but so I can understand the full picture of what’s going on for you.
We’ll usually talk about things like:
-What made you decide to start therapy now
-What’s been stressing you out or feeling heavy lately
-The important people in your life (friends, family, relationships)
-School, work, or life pressures
-Things you’ve already tried to cope or feel better
Think of it as mapping out your world together so we can see what’s helping, what’s hurting, and where things feel stuck.
You don’t need to prepare anything.
You also don’t have to share everything all at once. You can go at your own pace.
By the end of the session, we’ll usually start to:
-Identify the main things you want help with
-Talk about what feeling better might look like
-Create a game plan for working together
My goal is to understand your life well enough that we can start making things feel more manageable as soon as possible.
And just as important, the first session is also for you to see if the vibe feels right. Therapy works best when you feel comfortable and understood.
If there was one thing you wish people knew about the therapy experience who might be hesitant to try it, what would that be?
You don’t have to be in a full crisis to start therapy.
A lot of people think therapy is only for when things are completely falling apart. In reality, many people start because they feel stressed, stuck, overwhelmed, or just tired of carrying everything on their own.
You also don’t have to show up with everything figured out. Most people start therapy with thoughts like, “I don’t even know where to begin.” That’s completely normal.
Therapy is just a place where you can talk honestly, sort through what’s going on in your life, and learn tools that actually make things feel more manageable.
And one more thing… it’s not as awkward or intimidating as people imagine. It’s really just a conversation with someone whose job is to listen, understand, and help you make sense of things without judgment.
Starting therapy doesn’t mean something is wrong with you.
It usually means you’re ready to take care of yourself in a different way.

Work HistoryI’ve spent the last 10+ years working with kids, teens, and young adults in schools, residential programs, and nonprofit organizations.
Most recently, I worked with students living away from home for school. Many of them were navigating anxiety, trauma, grief, identity exploration, and the pressure of figuring out who they are and where they belong.
In that role I provided:
-Individual therapy
-Group therapy
-Emotional skills programs
-Support and training for the adults working with students
Supporting the entire environment helps young people feel safer and more supported.
My Experience with Trauma
Earlier in my career, I worked with children and families involved in the child welfare system.
This work deepened my understanding of how trauma affects:
-emotions
-relationships
-self-confidence
-behavior
It also strengthened my use of trauma-informed therapy and DBT skills, which help clients build emotional regulation and healthier coping strategies.
