In what ways have your personal experiences influenced your work with your clients?
As a mixed race person with a nontraditional way of thinking, I’ve never really had a cultural home that fully reflects either my racial background or the way my mind works. I've often felt like I'm on the outside looking in—fully present, fully engaged, but rarely feeling like I truly belong. That outsider perspective has shaped how I see the world and it’s become central to how I approach my work. Because of this, I’ve learned to be skeptical of categories. Labels and diagnoses can be useful tools for communication and understanding, but they don’t define who a person is. Every individual is uniquely themselves—complex, nuanced, and more than any single descriptor can capture. My clients often tell me they find it refreshing how much attention I pay to those subtleties in their experiences. For example, if identifying with a certain diagnosis helps you better understand yourself and explain your experience to others, that’s incredibly valuable. But that doesn’t mean you’ll automatically share the same challenges, needs, or traits with someone else who also identifies that way. To me, this is a core truth: no two minds are the same, and the most respectful and effective work honors that from the start.
What is your style/approach to therapy?
I have devoted my career to exploring the many ways people think, learn, and experience the world, while advocating for a more compassionate and inclusive understanding of these differences. As a therapist, my lifelong curiosity and background in philosophy, psychology, and the arts—disciplines that each explore what it means to be human—fuels my joy in helping people uncover new perspectives and meaningful answers to life’s deepest questions. I specialize in supporting clients navigating neurodivergence, depression, anxiety, creativity, gender, race, religion, trauma, relationships, and life transitions. I provide individual, couples, and family therapy, with an approach that honors the complexity and uniqueness of each client’s life.
I believe that growth often begins when we hit a wall—when old strategies stop working, and we're invited to develop new ways of thinking, feeling, or responding. But for that kind of growth to be possible, we need to feel safe. That’s why I prioritize creating a warm, nonjudgmental environment where clients feel truly seen and supported. I draw from the principles of person-centered therapy, meeting each client with deep empathy, care, and respect. When clients feel safe to be themselves fully, without fear of rejection or correction, they are much more able to engage in the vulnerable work of learning, healing, changing, and evolving. That’s the kind of foundation from which meaningful, sustainable growth can truly begin.
I center my work on client agency and self-determination—the belief that you are the ultimate expert on your own life. You define what success looks like, which strategies you find helpful or unhelpful, how you describe your experiences, and whether labels or diagnoses are meaningful to you. By honoring your voice in every step, therapy becomes more effective, more empowering, and often more enjoyable.
What should we know about your experiences and background?
My work is grounded in the belief that healing begins with authentic human connection. I value presence, empathy, and respect as the cornerstones of every therapeutic relationship. For me, therapy is not about “fixing” people—it is about creating a space where you feel deeply seen, understood, and supported as you navigate the challenges and possibilities of your own life.
One of my strongest values is honoring identity. I recognize that who we are—our culture, gender, sexuality, spirituality, neurodivergence, and lived experiences—shapes how we experience both pain and resilience. I am committed to dismantling the shame and silence that oppressive systems can create, and to offering care that affirms the wholeness of every person.
I also believe in the power of transparency and collaboration. You are the expert in your life; my role is to walk alongside you, offering tools, insight, and compassion while respecting your pace and your choices. Together, we create a relationship rooted in trust and mutual respect, where your voice guides the direction of our work.
Philosophically, I hold that therapy is about more than symptom relief—it is about reclaiming meaning, cultivating resilience, and living more fully. Whether we are working through trauma, navigating grief, repairing relationships, or wrestling with existential questions, I aim to help you uncover your strengths, build self-compassion, and expand your capacity to meet life with clarity and courage.
Above all, I approach every client with humility and care. My commitment is to provide a safe, inclusive, and affirming space where growth is possible and where you never have to face your struggles alone. Finally, I believe the words we use to tell our stories shape how we see ourselves, and together we can explore new ways of making meaning, choice, and change. While I draw inspiration from psychological, existential and philosophical thought, I also rely on established therapeutic frameworks and evidence-based practices/tools when they offer the most effective support for my clients.

Work HistoryMy experience has taken me from hospital crisis work to supporting veterans and active-duty service members at the VA, and now into private practice. Along the way I’ve specialized in trauma, suicide prevention, identity exploration, grief, and the unique needs of LGBTQ+ and neurodivergent clients. These settings taught me to stay calm in crisis, collaborate with families and care teams, and create space where healing feels safe, authentic, and even creative.
