Get To Know Me
What does a first session with you look like?
The first session will be spent building rapport, gathering background information, setting the framework for treatment, establishing goals, and processing the experience of the first session. I know it takes time to trust someone and to divulge personal history. That is why, I do my best to provide a safe and warm environment, where you can set the pace, have the freedom to answer or not answer any question, and ask me questions in return. Therapy is a unique place, thus is important to establish the boundaries and framework so you know what to expect. Additionally, establishing goals will keep us both accountable in working towards the growth, healing, and change that brought you to therapy in the first place.
What is your style/approach to therapy?
I am a collaborative therapist. I do not want to single-handedly drive the course of treatment alone. I like to use the metaphor of you are the driver, and I am sitting next to you with a map. I may point destinations and places along the drive, but ultimately you get to decide whether we stop anywhere. I also seek to ensure emotional safety and security through soliciting feedback and working to make sure you feel felt. So often in our day-to-day interactions we talk but may not feel heard. In session I aim to listen to understand rather than respond, while also providing avenues for self-reflection, and observations to highlight opportunities for change.

Education
Biola University Rosemead School of Psychology, Doctorate of Philosophy, Clinical Psychology, 2014 — Completed a Masters and Doctorate program with an emphasis in Clinical Psychology. Research and dissertation focused on the division of household labor, focusing on Asian American couples. Completed predoctoral internship in community mental health and postdoctoral internship in university mental health.
Work HistoryI have been serving individuals in private practice since 2017 and have enjoyed the freedom to provide support and journey alongside people without limitations to time. Though many people look for quick fixes and fast healing, growth and change can take time, and private practice affords me the opportunity to walk alongside individuals towards lasting change.
Additionally, working with college students during my postdoc, community mental health during pre-doc, and growing up 2nd generation Asian American has given me a wealth of experience and compassion for the various elements and barriers of life that contribute to why we are the way we are, and how to break cycles and patterns.
